AS/NZS Cable Sizing
The two parts of AS/NZS 3008 cover Australian and New Zealand conditions separately — here is why that split exists.
AS/NZS 3008 splits into Part 1.1 (Australian conditions) and Part 1.2 (New Zealand conditions) rather than presenting one unified dataset for both countries — and the reason is straightforwardly climatic and infrastructural, not administrative.
Reference ambient temperatures, typical installation practices, and some infrastructure conventions differ meaningfully enough between Australia and New Zealand that a single shared table would compromise accuracy for one country or the other. Splitting into two parts lets each dataset reflect its own country's genuinely applicable reference conditions.
A project in Australia should reference Part 1.1; a project in New Zealand should reference Part 1.2 — treating them as interchangeable because they share the "AS/NZS 3008" parent designation is a mistake, since the actual numeric tables inside each part aren't identical.
